So I have been a little quiet on here lately, and that has been due largely to me traveling a bit over the last month or two. I made a decision a little while ago to take The Mechanical Mum to the next level. I have always had amazing responses from my followers, so I thought it was time to dip my toes into Youtube and Tiktok. By doing this, I was hoping to increase my following and expand my digital footprint as The Mechanical Mum.
So, after putting my head together with my husband and son (who is meant to be helping me, but really isn’t), we came up with a whole list of topics that I wanted to address. I then went and spoke to all of our suppliers and was offered an opportunity to go to Melbourne and visit a couple of suppliers head quatres. After a bit of back and forwarding, I lined up a couple of dates with them both, and off I went with my son, to Melbourne for a couple of weeks.
We were incredibly privileged to be given access to Ryco Filters head engineer and their testing facility. We were able to to see how their products are tested and what new products they have in store for us. We talked all things filtration and especially my favourite, the cabin filter as shown below! Whilst we were there, a reporter from The Australian Car Mechanic Magazine asked if he could follow us around and then interview me afterwards. We had the best time! Below is a small sample of the article written about The Mechanical Mum. Ryco were amazing and posted us all over the social media about the visit, which lead to a heap more followers just from their shout out. At the time I didn’t fully understand the benefit of Off Page SEO as a marketing tool. Darrel Moody from DigitalMules.com has recommended the most powerful off page SEO is when another company create backlinks to your site. When Ryco did this for me the results were instantaneous. I hope to do the same when I release the YouTube video we have done of the visit.
The next place we went to was Penrite oil company, where we were given access to one of their head technical advisors and then given a tour of their oil production facility by one of the owners. We were shown their new production equipment and how they blend all the different grades of oil. Unfortunately, the guy we were meant to meet was unwell, and the other people were not aware we were coming, however they still made us feel incredibly welcoming and we had a great time learning all about how oil is made. We didn’t get any promotions from them on the day, however it will be something I will ask for when I send through a copy of the video for them to check before releasing.
With the benefits of backlinking for off page SEO proving to be effective, and free for the most part, it will definitely be something I will push for when featuring our supplier partners in the future. It was so much fun and I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with these amazing companies that the time off work and blogging was well worth it.
